Wigan won`t see Red

The Pre Christmas Cracker was a Pre Christmas cruncher at Stoke, but Wigan has a fully fit squad ahead of their game down at Anfield.
The much talked about Maynor Figueroa scored a fantastic free-kick from his own half that flew straight in the back of the net. It must go down as the goal of the season to date. Only David Beckham has come close to matching it for distance in the Premiership so far, if we aren`t counting a bounce first.
Full Credit to Emerson Boyce, I thought his goal was bravely fought for, which earned him an accidental kick in the fore head, but after some off the field treatment, he returned to the field of play with his head bandaged only to carry on, somewhat reminiscent in years past, of the great Harry Lyon, a Latics Legend.
I`m expecting this evening`s fixture with Liverpool to be very different yet again. Liverpool have world class players in their squad to choose from, but after a gruelling performance at Stoke the Latics have proved they can play in any way, shape, or form, so I expect the lads to step up to the mark at Anfield tonight and play Liverpool off the park. For the neutrals who expect to see this Wigan side under Martinez sit back and just absorb Liverpool pressure, forget it, those were the days under Steve Bruce, though defensively we do need to keep it tighter.
Normally at this stage in the season, we`d expect to see Rafa`s men breathing down the necks of Man Utd or Arsenal. But all the talk this season has been by the fans and their 2-0 win over Man Utd this season, which since doing so, seems to be the curse of Liverpool. Though Fernando Torres is available again after a lay-off, alls not well in the Anfield camp, and so far they have struggled to find form , and now find themselves in 7th spot, five points away from Aston Villa, who occupy the fourth and final Champions League qualification place. The sign`s aren`t good for Rafael Benitez, and a Wigan win will be just another nail in his coffin. Last season at Anfield, Amr Zaki forced defender Daniel Agger into a mistake before slotting home the opening goal, and again in the second half scored from a glorious scissor kick to give Wigan 2 goals.
Tonight I hope to see Wigan striker Jason Scotland score his first goal of the season for the Latics, and maybe even make it two for us, to break Liverpudlian hearts and hopefully follow in Zaki`s footsteps at Anfield, but this time with a difference. We will take the 3 points.

There will be 'NO` famous Gerrard comeback tonight, a player who looks distinctly out of sorts. C`mon The Blues.
My Verdict.
