Wigan Athletic - Spurs Line-Up Figueroa Bid

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is ready to return to Wigan Athletic for another Honduras gem after capturing Wilson Palacios from the Latics for £14 million last January he is set to bid £6 million for left back Maynor Figueroa.

Sunderland appeared favourites to take Figueroa but now that a big club has entered the fray the Hondurans head will have been turned firmly South and his back will have turned on old boss Steve Bruce with the player keen to team up again with his compatriot and best friend Palacios.

Spurs need to sell though to raise the cash to buy following chairman Daniel Levy`s comments this week that no extra funds will be available for January transfers and they will need to be self financed, but that wont put off Redknapp who is a renowned wheeler and dealer in the transfer market and first out the White Hart Lane door to raise some cash is expected to be Gareth Bale.

Figueroa is in great demand, he is a class player, strong, fast and skilful, he put in another good display at Liverpool last night and his reputation is growing quickly, Martinez doesn`t want to lose him before the summer but if a big bid comes in then he may reluctantly allow him to leave sooner rather than later as the Latics boss also needs to raise funds for his rebuilding programme at the DW Stadium.

He'd be better off at Spurs than Subderland, Bruces magic as stopped already up there

might give wilson a lift that he needs at the moment as well. i'd be happy with him. id say we sign figueroa and loan u bale for the rest of the season then u can use the cash else where
black-messi
I'd take Bale...lots of un realised promise that lad
worbo
Agree worbo. Bales more of a left winger though imo, bit like Charles Insommnia can really look good going forward but cant defend. Only problem with the Fig is weve got Assou Ekotto whos playing so well at the moment. Time will tell.
HuddersfieldYiddo
