Wigan Athletic - Pompey Want Kapo

Reports coming from the South coast say that Portsmouth boss Avram Grant wants to take Latics misfit Olivier Kapo on loan for the rest of the season.

The former Juventus and Birmingham player was signed by former Latics boss Steve Bruce in the summer of 2008 and in a season and a half he has managed just 20 appearances, two goals and a mountain of bad press.

Kapo has been quoted, almost from the week he signed, as saying he made a mistake coming to Wigan and wants to leave; unfortunately he has found himself either unwanted or other clubs unwilling to give the Latics the £3 million that Bruce paid Birmingham for the France international.

Now Grant is ready to offer both the Latics and Kapo a way out of the dilemma and a loan deal would suit all parties.

There is no way we can get him. The FA is not going to let us get any player as they fear that we will not be able to pay again, even if we had to find the money to pay the £10 we owe!
