Bring On The Rovers Says Boyce

Wigan Athletic defender Emerson Boyce is raring to go following the postponement of Monday nights game against Bolton and cant wait for the Boxing Day clash with local rivals Blackburn Rovers at the DW Stadium.

Boyce says that after the defeat at Anfield the lads wanted to get back into some match action and shake it out of their system but unfortunately due to freezing conditions the game with Bolton had to be postponed for safety reasons

Speaking to the press Boyce said: 'After the Liverpool game, we just wanted to get back out there and get it out of our system.

'Whether you're having a good run or a bad run, you just want to play again as soon as possible.

'We had a feeling the Bolton game would be called off, because we'd seen while we were training at the stadium that the surrounding area was very icy.

'The players were desperate to play the game, though, as it was such a big game for both sides.

'Bolton are around us in the table, and it was a derby as well, and we really wanted the three points to lift us up the table.

'I personally would just like to have played the game and get the
points on the board.

'We have a game in hand but as a player you just want to play.'

With teams at the bottom having some positive results last weekend Boyce says that it is important for the Latics to get back to winning ways and he sees the Blackburn game as a massive one, he continued: 'The Blackburn game is even more massive now for us, because all the other teams played at the weekend and some picked up points on us.

'Blackburn is another home game for us, and it's crucial that we get a result.

'We don't want to get to the stage where you're playing too many catch-up games. We know we need to win.'
