Latics Linked With A Move For Matty Fryatt

Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez is said to be lining up a £3 million bid for Leicester City striker Matty Fryatt who has carried on his goal scoring exploits from last season with 12 already in the bag.

Fryatt made his name at Walsall as a teenager when he burst onto the scene and there was a lot of interest in him then, Paul Jewell was linked with a move to bring him to the Latics back in 2006 but Leicester took the plunge and now they are reaping the benefits with the 23 year old hot on the goal trail.

Last season Fryatt scored 32 times as the Foxes won the League One Championship in style and this season he as successfully adjusted to a higher level of football by continuing to find the net but there is a big difference between scoring goals in the Championship and scoring in the Premier League as quite a few have found out.

It would be a massive gamble for Martinez to bring in another lower league striker to partner Jason Scotland who is still to get off the mark in the Premier League with half a season gone, we shall see.

Fryatt is the best stirker outside the P.L. and has youth on his side.

Ask yourselves, is the worst striker inside the Premiership? If he's better than that it may be of value. If not then it's a waste as he won't score at Premiership Level against Premiership defences.
