Wigan Athletic - Martinez Says Six Are To Leave

Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez is ready to give his team selection a major over haul with the news that 5 to 6 players moving on and at least that many coming to the club during the next few weeks.

Speaking to the press Martinez says that the playing squad is very thin and additions are needed to add strength but he also stated that he sees quite a few being moved on during January with some of the fringe players either not good enough or don`t fit in with his playing style.

Cho Won-Hee as returned to Korea and Olivier Kapo is set for a switch to Boulogne but according to the boss they are just the start, Martinez said: 'I think it is quite clear we have five or six players who need to move on for different reasons, and January is the perfect time.

'We went in to this season with an already-thin squad in terms of numbers, and then we lost Marlon King which we didn't expect, so it was always the plan in January to help the players we already have here.

'On the other hand, having assessed the situation since the summer, there are certain players who we are looking to move on.

'Some maybe need a fresh start, some maybe don't fit in with the ideology we have at the club, and some maybe haven't shown enough during the six months I have been here.'
