Birmingham in £10 Million Rodallega Bid

Wigan Athletic could face a battle to keep Colombia striker Hugo Rodallega at the club as Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish is set to test their resolve with a reported £10 million bid for the Latics leading scorer.

The Mail are reporting that the Birmingham boss is set to make the offer this week and other media sources have also identified McLeish has being interested in taking Rodallega to St. Andrews.

Latics boss Roberto Martinez has said that he expects a good deal of movement this transfer window as he reshapes the team into his style, but he promised the big three, Rodallega, Figueroa and N`Zogbia would be staying put until the summer at least.

Martinez is said to have made enquiries this past week about strikers Scott McDonald at Celtic and Leicester City leading goal scorer Matty Fryatt, with just two forwards on the books at the Latics and one of those yet to score this season, it should take more than £10 million to prise away the clubs only genuine goal threat.

I hope there's no truth in this! It'll be interesting to see how it plays out and whether or not tight Whelan will overule common sense for pound signs in front of the eyes.

Unfortunately I think if the offer's big enough, Whelan will sell. He's motivated by money. He's a businessman and he will soon forget about his loyalty to the club if the going's good, as they say. There's no doubt Whelan has done a great job but I do question his motivation at times.

Rodallega's good. Birminmgham are loaded- Ask for 20 million lads. :)

If McLeish was smart he would sign no players this window. Anyone he signs will upset the balance of his squad and they will start tanking
