What The Rags Say - Latics Latest Transfer Gossip

There`s not a lot of new news today in the gossip columns concerning Wigan Athletic and players coming or going at the DW Stadium, in fact there is no new news at the time of writing this.

The Daily Mail report that one time Latics interest Charlie Adam at Championship club Blackpool has had a 5 million fee slapped on his head by the Seasiders boss Ian Holloway, I don`t think Martinez had serious thoughts about the player with a reputed Champagne lifestyle at half that amount.

Since his move from Rangers in the summer Adam has been a success in the Blackpool midfield, but a 10 times increase in valuation in 5 months? Come on.

There is more regurgitated news regarding Latics left back Maynor Figueroa and a proposed move to Sunderland with various sources reporting the mooted swap involving Kieran Richardson, thanks but no thanks, every player has his price, if Sunderland want Figgy then they should pay it and forget trying to off-load unwanted players to us, we already have enough of them.

Talking of which Daniel de Ridder is said to be close to securing a permanent move to Hapoel Tel Aviv, with Sky Sports reporting that de Ridder can speak Hebrew and wants to go and play in the Europa League, come on Bobby lets get rid.

De Ridder says: 'At the beginning I was very positive about the offensive intent of our new coach Roberto Martinez'

'My chance has not come. If I want to play this season a move looks to be the right solution.

'That aspect is playing a role in choosing the Israeli league. Yes, I can speak Hebrew but more important is that Hapoel Tel Aviv is the current runner-up to Maccabi Haifa and still plays in the Europa League.

'They qualified from a group with big teams likes HSV, Celtic and Rapid Vienna in first place.

'Now they play in the next round against Rubin Kazan. '

Tribalfootball, I know, are reporting that former Latics ace Jason Roberts could make a return to the club with Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce making the much loved striker available at 1.5 million and this could be just the right sort of price to attract Roberto Martinez into making a play for the Latics fans favourite.

It is being discussed on a couple of websites that Aston Villa are about to launch a big bid for Latics leading goal scorer Hugo Rodallega, pure speculation at the moment, lets hope it stays that way.

Villa don't need Rodallega and he wouldn't go unless Martinez has a sure fire replacement lined up. Whelan has already stated that Rodallega won't go so it must be someone trying to stir up trouble.
