Wigan Athletic skipper Mario Melchiot is ready to give his all for FA cup glory as the Latics travel to Notts County for the 4th round tie tomorrow and the Dutchman will be wearing something extra as he takes to the field at Meadow Lane.
In the final moments of last weeks Premier League clash with Wolves at Molineux Melchiot clashed heads with fellow Latics defender Titus Bramble and the nasty looking collision ended up with Mario sustaining a broken nose.
Melchiot has decided that he wants to play through the pain barrier and lead his side to possible FA cup glory so he will wear a mask to offer some protection to his face.
Latics boss Roberto Martinez was full of laughter as he claimed that the squad couldn`t wait to see Mario in is mask but he also praised the skipper for his readiness to set an example by playing through the pain barrier.
Martinez told reporters: 'Mario has got a face-mask ready and we will assess how he gets on with that. He hasn't worn the mask in training yet, but we are all looking forward to seeing it as you can imagine'
'But, seriously, it takes a lot to drag the skipper away from his duties, and he doesn't see a broken nose as a big enough reason to stay away from a football pitch, which is a great example.'
