Latics Fever Grips Notts County Fans

Latics Fever Grips Notts County Fans

Wigan Athletic are the big draw down in Nottingham this weekend as Premier League Latics travel to Robin Hood territory hoping not to get mugged and make the merry men of County even merrier.

The 4th round of the FA cup as thrown up a game that supporters of League 2 side Notts County see as one with a genuine chance of a shock on the cards and they are flocking in their numbers to get a ticket for the visit of the Premier League superstars.

Notts County ticket manager David Deighton told reporters that since the Magpies managed to beat plucky Conference side Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday to set up the tie with the Latics the phones at Meadow Lane have been red hot with ticket requests.

The pull of a Premier League club should never be underestimated and Deighton says he is hopeful of the game attracting the biggest gate of the season, speaking to the Notts County official site Deighton said: 'The phones have been ringing literally non-stop since full time on Tuesday night.

'There's definitely a buzz and everyone that I've spoken to has been genuinely excited by this game.

'It's the first time we've played against Premiership opposition in over five years and last time we got over 13,000 fans in the stadium.

'To get that kind of number again and produce a similar kind of atmosphere would be brilliant.

'It would be fantastic to draw in the biggest gate of the season and really raise the roof.'

"It's the first time we've played against Premiership opposition in over five years." What is that guy talking about? We played them last year didn't we in the Carling Cup?!
