Kirkland Out For Minimum Two Weeks

Kirkland Out For Minimum Two Weeks

Wigan Athletic first choice goalkeeper Chris Kirkland looks set to be sidelined for at least two weeks following an injury to his shoulder which he sustained during a collision in training.

The big shot stopper suffered an injury to his sternoclavicular joint and after seeking specialist advice he has been ordered to have complete rest.

Latics boss Roberto Martinez says that it is important that the injury settles and the club wont be rushing Kirkland back, speaking to the official website Martinez said: 'This is a completely new injury, I must stress that, it could have happened to anyone. I'm disappointed to lose him but the diagnosis is much better than it could have been and Chris should be back in full training within a fortnight hopefully.

'It's important that we get him back in contention as soon as possible, but we have to be certain the injury is healed before risking him.'

Seeing what he did at Notts County, he looks decent. I agree his positioning wasn't great but he couldn't do much really but he tried his best with the free kick. First goal didn't stand much chance. Made some vital saves though.
