Marco Ruben Speaks About Joining The Latics

New Wigan Athletic signing Argentina striker Marco Ruben today spoke about leaving Villarreal and joining the Latics as he embarks on an exciting period in his career.

Speaking to Villarreal`s official website Ruben said that he was sad to be leaving the club that gave him his chance in Europe but really looking forward to joining what he described as a good coach and great club in Martinez and Wigan.

Ruben confirmed that negotiations have been on going for the past week and that he had no hesitation in agreeing to join the Latics once he found out they were interested, Ruben said: " I have been really happy at Villarreal and I leave behind a great group of players"

'I found eight or nine days ago about Wigan`s interest and since then the club continued negotiations with my agent"

"Saturday they told me that the deal was closed and that only my signature was needed"

"There may have been other opportunities in six months, but that might be a yes or a no and I preferred to take this opportunity because Roberto Martinez is a good coach and Wigan are a great team."
