'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Marcelo Moreno Martins Joins the Latics

Wigan Athletic have announced the signing of Bolivia international striker Marcelo Moreno Martins on a six month loan from Shakhtar Donetsk.

The 22 year old comes to the Latics with a good reputation and manager Roberto Martinez is absolutely delighted to have added quality to the squad, Martinez told the official website: 'We knew we needed more competition in the forward area, and now we have Victor Moses and Marcelo Moreno'

'Shakhtar paid 9 million Euros for him 18 months ago, which shows you how highly he is regarded, and he has all the ingredients to become a big player in this country.

'He still needs to find his feet in Europe, and we are confident that this will be at Wigan. Let's see what happens over the next few months but he certainly fits the bill for what we are looking for at Wigan Athletic.

'He is young, a superb athlete, good in the air, technically good with both feet and he will add something new to the squad.

'Hopefully he can adapt quickly to the demands of the Premier League and become a real quality addition to the Wigan Athletic squad.'

I'm so glad Martinez has come through with the goods on this transfer window....it has the potential to reshape our season from here. We have kept all our key players, extended Figueroa's contract and strengthened in all areas with new blood. Looks like we can really do some damage now. I always felt Martinez knew best where we needed strengthening, and it's come through....now I just want to see them all bag endless goals!

Im a united fan but I'm quite excited to see this guy. We were linked with him before he went to Shaktar, so it'll be interesting to see how he does. Victor Moses is also another player with great potential.
