A point gained at Sunderland isn`t a bad point in the grand scheme of things though there was a slight disappointment yesterday afternoon following Kenwyne Jones equalising goal stopped the three points coming back to Wigan.

The performance of the team was a marked improvement from the FA cup defeat to Notts County and it looks like Roberto`s rollicking put some fire back in the bellies of the players.

Momo Diame gave a good display in central midfield and scored a cracking goal, more of the same on Tuesday please Momo, Emerson Boyce gave another good account of himself standing in for Mario Melchiot at right back and the Latics skipper might find it difficult to get his place back in the team

Charles N`Zogbia was once again Latics most creative player and Gary Caldwell is quickly establishing himself as a pivotal member of the back four with another solid display, it was good to have Chris Kirkland back and he brought a calming stability to the defence that`s been missing these past few games but for me the man of the match was James McCarthy.

Young McCarthy played with a maturity that belies his youth and he gave a solid all round 90 minutes, unspectacular but solid.
