McCarthy Wins Stoke Man Of The Match Award

Wigan Athletic man of the match against Stoke City, as voted for by Vital Latics visitors is James McCarthy.

The young Scot had to leave the field on 54 minutes due to picking up a hamstring injury which puts him in doubt for Wednesday nights game with Bolton Wanderers but he did enough in the first half to be given the man of the match award.

McCarthy has been a revelation in the Latics midfield these past few weeks and the future is indeed bright for the 19 year old former Hamilton Academicals player, for the record the voting went:

James McCarthy - 37%
Titus Bramble - 14%
Chris Kirkland - 13%

The new poll is available for you to vote in and its asking is the pitch at the DW Stadium a cause for concern, recently there have been a few comments made on the state of the playing surface by Roberto Martinez, Latics players and visiting managers.

There was major repair work carried out on the pitch 18 months ago but with the bad winter and the problems associated with laying a football pitch on bog ground close to a river it appears that the Latics might need to abandon some of their total football playing style if the surface remains untrue.

What is your opinion, does it matter what state the pitch is in, is it the same for both sides or will a poor playing surface have a negative effect on the Latics more than the opposition?

The poll is located on the right side of this page and to participate simply select your option and then hit the submit button, its that easy.
