Latics Reserves 0-3 Blackburn Reserves

Latics Reserves 0-3 Blackburn Reserves

Wigan Athletic reserves were back in action tonight for the first time since January 19th; unfortunately the rest didn`t appear to do the lads any good as they fell 3-0 to Blackburn Rovers reserves at Robin Park Arena.

A young Latics side were 2 goals down by half time, Maceo Rigters claimed both goals as Rovers were in total control, his first came on 23 minutes when he was left unmarked in the box to head home, his second was in first half stoppage time when he raced clear from a static Latics back line and fired into the bottom corner of Nicholls goal.

Latics made a better show in the second half and were much more in the game but unfortunately with just 10 minutes remaining Amine Linganzi slotted home for the Rovers to make it 3-0.

Latics:

Nicholls; Morris, Meace, Mustoe, Redmond; Routledge (Breeze, 88), Holt; Kupisz, McManaman, Bouaouzan (Rugg, 55); Cywka

Subs not used: Williams, Mayer, Jukes

Rovers:

Kean, C. O'Connor (sub Pearson 20 mins), Ramm, Hanley, A. O'Connor, Grella (c), Blackman, Linganzi, Di Santo (sub Santa Cruz 83 mins), Basturk (sub Potts 78 mins), Rigters.

Subs not used: Swann (GK), Banton.

anyone else think its a bit odd that none of the senior fringe players ever seem to get a game? Surely it would be a good run out for them....

Was talking about that last night at the Bolton game, I cant understand why they dont play for the ressies, at least 4 first teamers, it would keep their match fitness up plus surely it would bring on the young players playing alongside the senior pro's
