'If It's Football, It's Vital'

James McCarthy is a Major Doubt

Wigan Athletic young midfield man James McCarthy appears to be a major doubt for this evenings clash with local rivals Bolton Wanderers at the DW Stadium.

McCarthy was withdrawn with a hamstring strain in last weeks 1-1 draw with Stoke on 54 minutes, once McCarthy had left the field Stoke really came back into the game, the youngsters enthusiasm, drive and work rate was missed dare I say to the point that Tuncay was allowed to drift into the Latics box un-marked to score the Potters equaliser.

Martinez will want to give his starlet every opportunity to be fit for the game so a late fitness test is scheduled though he wont be risked if there is the slightest doubt.

At the moment McCarthy is rated 50/50 and Martinez has spoken about his chances: 'James McCarthy is 50-50 for the game, after having to come off against Stoke. He's been playing a lot of football lately and we've all enjoyed watching him, so we'll asses him right up until the game and hope he has a speedy recovery.

'He's a true ambassador of Wigan Athletic. A young, enthusiastic man with great potential and a great attitude.'

Fingers crossed he'll be fit, this lad will be sorely missed
worbo
He has come on in leaps and bounds, literally, and has impressed everyone, I think!
zakidaman
If he does misses out lets hope it is for Moses or Moreno and not for Thomas
nooney
If McCarthy is missing I can see the centre three being Thomas, Diame and Scharner, with Zog and Hugo out wide and Scotland up front
worbo
Dont think we should rush him back then lose him for longer
ZAKKY
put in moreno
