Former Wigan Athletic player and fans favourite Wilson Palacios has been speaking about his first return to the Latics since his move south last January as Tottenham Hotspur travel to the DW Stadium for Sundays Premier League clash.
Palacios was signed by Latics former boss Steve Bruce and he was an instant hit with his all action, heart on the sleeve midfield play and became a terrace favourite with some outstanding displays in his time at the club.
Without doubt the Honduras international is a very likeable character and he was a big part of the Latics dressing room, coupled with that his two very close friends and compatriots Maynor Figueroa and Hendry Thomas are Latics regulars then it is easy to see that Wilson still has ties with Wigan.
Speaking to Spurs official website about his first return Palacios was very candid about his feelings and he mentioned how he felt following the drubbing that the Latics got earlier this season when they lost 9-1 at White Hart Lane, he said it was an emotional occasion for him and he offered his friends some comfort after the game.
Palacios says its always difficult for him to play against the Latics due to his memories of his time at the club, he said: 'That was a very emotional game for me. I have good friends in the Wigan team and also some fellow countrymen who are like my brothers. We are very close.
'I spoke to them afterwards and they were very down about the result. They knew they had to move on quickly from that day and I wished them well.
'My time at Wigan was a very important part of my career. They treated me so well, I felt great there and I thank them for my opportunity.
'I must admit, it's always hard to play against Wigan because I have so many good memories there.'
It will be good to see Wilson back at the DW Stadium and I am sure he will get a rousing reception from the home supporters, I just hope he finds it a little too difficult to play well.![]()
