What The Papers Said - Birmingham 1-0 Latics

Wigan Athletic lost to Birmingham City yesterday and find themselves well and truly in the thick of a relegation battle, with eleven games of the season left there is time and points available for the Latics to pull clear but they need to start winning, I believe we will but I am biased, so lets get an unbiased view from the nations press:

The Guardian - This was a fitful, untidy match that Birmingham narrowly deserved to win read the report here

The Mail - Forty points before the end of February virtually to guarantee Premier League safety and an FA Cup quarter-final at Portsmouth next Saturday read the report here

Irish Examiner - Wigan manager Roberto Martinez felt his side were denied a point by a controversial penalty award as they went down 1-0 at Birmingham read the report here

Latics Official Site Report - James McFadden's penalty on the stroke of half-time was enough to seal a win for Birmingham against a Latics side blighted by poor refereeing decisions read the report here

Wigan Evening Post - Fad leaves Roberto sad read the report here

The Birmingham Post - James McFadden's controversial penalty lifted Birmingham to the 40-point mark in the Barclays Premier League and piled on the relegation worries for Wigan read the report here
