Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has said that he has no interest in the results of the other sides caught up in the thick of the relegation battle because he is focused on the Latics and what they need to do in the final eleven fixtures.
Latics take on Liverpool on Monday evening at the DW Stadium and by the time they take to the field five of their rivals in the scrap at the bottom will have already played though in all honesty they all have really tough games.
Martinez` men sit just one point but two places outside the bottom three and for that to change before 8 pm on Monday Burnley would need to beat Arsenal at the Emirates, Wolves get at least a draw at home to Manchester United and Hull City secure a win away at Everton, not impossible but highly unlikely on all three scenarios.
At the moment though the Latics boss prefers not to concentrate on what his rivals are up to but rather on what the Latics need to do, speaking to the press Martinez says: 'We want to focus on ourselves and that is what we have to do'
'I think we have to be aware when the other teams are in front of us, whether they are going to get a result or not, but that shouldn't affect our performance.
'You don't want to create a situation where you feel that you need to rely on other teams.
'At the moment it is really tight down at the bottom and there are eight teams that are going to be fighting to avoid relegation.
'But it is important that we focus on ourselves, that we remain really secure in what we are doing and that is why as a football club we need to get together and rely on our performances and our results.
'In that respect, it won't have a say, what the others are doing in this period.'
So its tight at the bottom with just 4 points separating Burnley in 19th spot from West Ham in 13th and the results of this weekends fixtures will no doubt keep it all still very much the same.
