How much more can the Latics fans take? Its not bad enough that their team is playing like a side where spirit is sorely lacking, but when you need a timely boost, what you don't need is Rafael Benitez's high flying Liverpool at the DW Stadium. Add to that Wigan's awful record against Liverpool and I think I'll just find myself going down the pub and enjoying a pint and then just coming home and getting on with the job next time round.
I say this because this game will not have a direct bearing on the Latics staying in the league. At least that's what I do believe. I think this game is one which, in all fairness, can be written off as another top 4 bore game. Its never anything but the top 4 in all fairness and the other teams are just there for show which makes the premier league a great shame. Those teams should be placed in another league altogether and the Premier League would become so much more interesting.
As for the game, this is a tough one for Roberto Martinez's side but on the plus side, Liverpool have failed to score in five of their last seven games and although that should boost Martinez's troops, I think this is the game where Liverpool will get things right. Wigan have managed just 1 point out of a possible twelve against Liverpool at the DW Stadium which doesn't offer encouragement in that respect.
With so many interesting different stats, this makes this game hard to predict, but the troops are returning for Liverpool and with Fernando Torres and company back tonight, Wigan could be in for a long night. Lets hope that the score stays respectable but even better, hope that Wigan can do the same to Liverpool as they did to Chelsea earlier in the season and put a smile back on the faces of the long suffering Wigan fans.
COME ON WIGAN!!!!
ROB'S PREDICTION
================
Wigan are in poor form of late and Vital Rob can only see one outcome from this game and that is a win for Rafael's side.
Wigan 1 Liverpool 3
ROB'S FINAL THOUGHT
===================
Huddersfield slipping out of the league one playoffs was a disappointing thing to witness on Saturday.
Wigan staying up would be a massive achievement and I think we'll do it. Hull, Burnley and Portsmouth to go down this season!
