Everton and Bolton Wanderers are the two main rivals for the signature of Wigan Athletic target Andy Johnson from Crystal Palace.
Latics manager Paul Jewell started the ball rolling with a £5 million bid, but Sam Allardyce and David Moyes have both responded with bids of £7 million according to reports.
Wigan are now reported to have made a bid of £6 million plus an unnamed player.
