What The Boss Says - Man City Vs Latics

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez looks ahead to the big game on Monday when his Latics side travel to Eastlands to face Manchester City in the ESPN televised Premier League clash.

Martinez is grateful that his squad will have a couple of extra days to recover following four games in 13 days, speaking to the clubs official website Martinez said: 'Monday is going to be a tough night, Eastlands is a difficult place to go to at the best of times, a job made harder when you consider the quality Man City have in their squad.

'Man City have plenty of strength in their side and different dimensions that can hurt you in many ways. If we want to compete against that and achieve that goal we'll have to be at our very best.

'Having played four games in 13 days meant that the extra two days we have available this weekend are vital to our preparation.

'From a physical point of view at this level it's almost impossible to replicate the same standards consecutively in such a short space of time, having this extra time will help us do that.

'When you play at home and get a good result like we did against Burnley there's always the danger that you'll drop your concentration a little bit the following week.

'We also know that after their defeat to Everton Man City will start the game bright and try to make amends for that result.

'But we're ready for the challenge and focused on what we need to do between now and the end of the season.

'Getting back-to-back wins is a great challenge to look forward to and we have a chance of it on Monday night.'

I'd take the draw, but a win would be good ;)
