With Wigan Athletic facing Fulham on Easter Sunday Vital Latics thought it might be an idea to take a quick look at some of the players that have represented both clubs down the years, with the clubs being 212 miles apart there isn`t a big list but there are some crackers on there:
Dave Beasant, Jimmy Bullard, Michael Brown, Bobby Campbell, Duncan Colquhoun, Mark Grew, Geoff Horsfield and Dai Jones
Jimmy Bullard (now at Hull) played 145 times for the Latics following his move from Peterborough in 2003 and scored 10 goals helping the clubs meteoric rise through the divisions, he moved onto Fulham in June 2006 for a bargain £2.5 million due to there being an escape clause in his contract, what an administrative cock up.
Jimmy`s Fulham career was blighted by a serious knee injury picked up at St. James` Park that limited him to just 39 appearances for the West London club before he was sold to Hull City for £5.5 million. He is now starring in the Tigers fight for survival
Michael Brown (now Portsmouth) moved to the Latics in August 2007 with then manager Chris Hutchings paying Fulham a reputed £2.5 million for their skipper. Brown had joined Fulham in January 2006 from Spurs for a similar fee and his 18 months spent at Craven Cottage were a relatively successful one making 44 appearances for the Londoners.
The hard tackling midfield man enjoyed a good run in the Latics side during his first season and he made the central midfield spot his own, Brownie made 58 appearances for the Latics before being allowed to leave the club for Portsmouth at the start of the current season.![]()
