Gary Caldwell - Fans Say Attwell Got It Wrong

Wigan Athletic defender Gary Caldwell saw red in Monday nights game against Manchester City, when following a challenge for the ball match referee Stuart Attwell deemed that the Scotland international had been reckless in the extreme and produced a red card reducing the Latics to 10 men.

The red card seemed a trifle harsh though and so Vital Latics seeked the opinions of visitors to the site to see what the general consensus was towards the validity of the sending off, a resounding 92% of those who took part said that in their opinion Caldwell did not deserve a red card for his challenge.

Here are a few comments left by posters on the site:

'ABSOLUTELY NOT A RED` - Wiganlatics09….`I thought the ref made the wrong decision` - Once a Blue…`Red card my a*se` - pieeater…`…he got that one totally wrong. You could even make a case for a red card for Tevez` - Injebreck…`Ridiculous decision. Even a yellow card would have been harsh - J_Mo…`Very bad decision by another poor ref` - Taff57

Well the red card stood so we have to move on and Caldwell is suspended now for three games the first of which is away at Fulham, so the next poll is asking who you think will win this match, personally I feel we will have a chance to snatch a win, Fulham are set to rest a few ahead of their big European game against Wolfsburg on Thursday so I`m going for a 2-1 Latics win.
