Lawro Predicts - Latics V Arsenal

Former Liverpool defender and current Match of the Day pundit Mark 'Lawro` Lawrenson has done his weekly round of predictions for the BBC and he is predicting that the game between Wigan Athletic and Arsenal at the DW Stadium on Sunday will end in an away win for the Gunners, lets see what his reasons are:

Wigan v Arsenal

This is a tough one for Wigan.

I think Arsene Wenger will play Robin van Persie from the start - he'll have no reason not to - and like I said before, when your best players are back, it has a big effect on the rest of the team.

Van Persie will be like a dog with a new bone, and he wants to prove his fitness ahead of the World Cup.

Wigan will be OK, because Burnley and Hull will go down.

It was always going to be a tough season for them. If you keep on selling your best players, it will catch up with you eventually, and it has. Not only that, but they had a new manager who hadn't managed in the Premier League before. But they'll be OK and arguably, they'll be stronger for it.

Prediction: 0-3

A tough one especially after the performance on Wednesday, but I think we will be spurred on in our hour of need and put in a good performance and get a 1-1 draw.

I like Martinez, but I fear for Wigan in this one. Not to sound cocky, but we just lost to our closest rival for the first time in 11 years. We'll be looking to take it out on someone, and you happen to be the next fixture. For my sake, I hope I'm not jinxing anything!
