'If It's Football, It's Vital'

What The Bosses Said - Latics 3-2 Arsenal

Wigan Athletic beat Arsenal 3-2 this afternoon in a sensational game at the DW Stadium, Latics were trailing 2-0 with just 10 minutes remaining on the clock and produced a superb come back to all but guarantee Premier League survival.

After the game both managers, Roberto Martinez and Arsene Wenger spoke to the media, lets see what they had to say:

Latics boss Roberto Martinez:

'We finally got the rewards our performance deserved'

'We started the game well, played face-to-face with Arsenal but then we began to lose the ball cheaply and the game was going away from us.

'Not many teams come back from 2-0 down against Arsenal, and the reason is the effort and belief the players showed today.

'Moments like this are vital for our club, are the reason why we are involved in football and what our fans deserved.

'To beat Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal in one season is something that doesn't come by accident, and I'm extremely proud of the players.'

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger:

"I said today when we were 2-0 up that we had chances to score a third goal. We have to continue to fight.'

'I believe we made mistakes and they took advantage of it.

'They were sharper than us in the final part of the game. I don't know what happened.

'It is as it is. It is difficult to swallow, but football is for 90 minutes.'

You lot are an enigma - outstanding wins surrounded by baffling losses. You look to be relatively safe now. Great win. Well done.
