Recovery On Track

Latics captain, and supporters' club player of the season, Arjan De Zeeuw is well on the way to making a full recovery, 5 weeks after breaking his collarbone in the Newcastle United match in April.

De Zeeuw said: 'I'm getting stronger every day and I'm making excellent progress.

'Obviously it was a very painful injury and you need a lot of rest initially, but the collarbone has healed really well and the doctor is pleased with my progress.

'The recovery is going according to plan, so I'm delighted with that.

'Pre-season training starts on July 6 and I'm confident I will be back in time to start.

'Without blowing my own trumpet, I'm a naturally fit person. I know how to look after myself, so it's all looking positive.

'To say it was a great season for Latics would be a massive understatement.

'We surpassed all the expectations, and to finish 10th in the table in the first season in the Premiership was an astonishing achievement.

'I loved every minute of last season, and it's just made me hungrier.

'That's why I'm focusing all my efforts on getting fit for another new adventure.'
