West Ham V Wigan

Wigan travel to West Ham in order to try and guarantee their safety. This is a game that West Ham must win in order to survive. Hull's home defeat against Aston Villa lacked any type of urgency or desire from their players and as much as it pains me to say it, its a game they deserved to lose. I feel sorry for Hull as it has really been a fairytale adventure for them and seeing them relegated could bring them all sorts of troubles!

However, Wigan are safe which is good news, well, more or less and I personally think we are. Hull aren't going to get 7 points from their remaining games, especially when you throw the Liverpudlians into the mix. The bottom three, unfortunately, are as they are.

Wigan tend to do a good result and they get a bad one straight after - the truth is it'll happen again at the weekend. I think Wigan will score first and West Ham will return to win it 2-1. However, Wigan do have a good record at Upton Park so a first back-to-back Premier League win of the season is not out of the question.

There has been some speculation that Gianfranco Zola could leave Upton Park and I'm surprised that West Ham have had such a poor season since Zola did so well last season for them.

Nevertheless, this is a massive game for West Ham - not so much for Wigan but they will need to garner at least one point against Hull at the DW Stadium on Bank Holiday Monday to virtually guarantee safety.

ROB'S PREDICTION
================

This is such a massive game for the Hammers and they'll be nervous. However, I do know that they know this is a game they can't afford to lose so I expect Wigan to be under the cosh to some degree. I think that the Latics will take an early lead but come undone by West Ham and I can see it being a match filled with controversy.

West Ham 2 Wigan 1

ROB'S FINAL THOUGHT
====================

Sorry I haven't done some of the famous 'Rob's Predictions' for a while - been on holiday. I hope that people had a good time meeting the first team recently at the DW Stadium. Wish I could've gone but I live so far away. However I am going to try hard to get to the last home game of the season against Hull. Its been a good last few days for Wigan who I think are safe and for Huddersfield who I think will make the play offs and hopefully get promoted!
