Chelsea V Wigan : Party On?

This is one of those types of games where anything can happen. Chelsea need the win to clinch the title away from Manchester United - whose trophy cabinet has been gleaming for three years with the shine of Premier League silverware!

Alex Ferguson wants a favour from Wigan Athletic on the last day of the season so Manchester United can win the title - we won't be doing Manchester United any favours, we'll be going all out to do ourselves proud on the final day of the season.

Steve Gohouri will be up against Didier Drogba and it will be an interesting duel between them since they are both Ivory Coast internationals and Gohouri broke his goal scoring drought with a deft bicycle kick to earn Wigan a point against a resilient Hull side last Bank Holiday Monday.

Chelsea need to win this game and pundits, the countrywide, have seen this as a no-brainer, giving the Latics no chance, but personally I believe this will be tougher than many people think, notably not a 5-0, thank you Mr. Merson, who hade to make a sly dig at our victory over Arsenal. Talk about sour grapes.

I think that on Super Sunday, Wigan will give it a go, but no team has ever won a fourth, consecutive title, so I think it'll be a disappointing end to the season for the Latics, not that the season hasn't been tinged with disappointment, with a few classic results lodged inbetween.

However, I see a lot to be happy about for the future - Victor Moses will be a good signing and if we hold onto Rodallega and N'Zogbia and sign the right calibre player, we could have a strong season and hopefully, Martinez's dream to get Wigan into Europe might soon become a reality.

In finishing, I am going to say, may the best team win the trophy tomorrow. However, it would be great if Wigan could spoil the party, but personally, I don't see it.

ROB'S PREDICTION
================

Will Martinez park the bus? Or will he go all out for the victory to spring one of the biggest surprises in the football world? Either way, Chelsea I believe will grind out the result they so badly need to lift the title, in my opinion, but I do also believe it won't be easy and it won't be a 5-0, Mr. Merson! Whatever happens, everyone, enjoy the day, because it promises so much. Wigan are safe so we have nothing to lose and everything to gain. I think Wigan will put in a shift but the balance of power between the top two will have shifted by the final whistle tomorrow.
Chelsea 2 Wigan 1

ROB'S FINAL THOUGHT
===================

Wigan will have a real go tomorrow, no doubt about it, but it'll be a blues victory which will see them lift the title.

Nevertheless, the summer will provide the most interesting moments for the club and hopefully, we can retain our best players and make some good signings and push on for the Europa League next season and not just be languishing in the relegation mire.

I have to say that I do hope that the club have more ambition than just to survive. I hope we survive, of course, but if that is all that Dave Whelan's target is, I have to say its rather disappointing as it shows, at least on his part, a lack of ambition, but hopefully, we can push on next season and hopefully get to the dizzy heights of the table and clinch a Europa League place.

UP THE LATICS!

Good Preview =)

Great preview. I doubt Martinez would park the bus, he would be embarrassed, as his team would have no idea how.

'...we won't be doing Manchester United any favours, we'll be going all out to do ourselves proud on the final day of the season' that's the correct spirit guys! of course in doing yourselves proud, don't go out there and get yourselves any injuries that may linger into the start of next season and cost you some crucial early points ;) just not worth it. you have nothing to play for, please don't bust a blood vessel and wigan will be every chelsea fan's second most favourite club :))
