James McArthur Due to Sign Next Week

James McArthur Due to Sign Next Week

According to reports in Scotland Wigan Athletic are set to complete the signing of Hamilton Academicals midfield player James McArthur early next week.

Glasgow based paper The Evening Times claim that a fee of around £800,000 has been agreed between the Latics and Hamilton following extensive negotiations that have been ongoing for most of this year.

McArthur is of course a good friend of former Hamilton man James McCarthy who joined the Latics last August and McArthur is said to be very impressed by his former team mate`s development at the DW Stadium this season under boss Roberto Martinez helping him make the Latics his choice despite interest from West Brom, Stoke and Birmingham.

The young Scot spent three days with the Latics in April and Martinez made a massive impression on him, McArthur will travel back down the M6 again on Monday to put pen to paper on a 3 year deal.

James McArthur`s agent Willie McKay confirmed that the deal should be completed soon when he said: "There have been extensive talks between Wigan and the club and they look very positive for the player and both parties.

"We hope to have James` situation resolved shortly."
