Leon Britton Set For Latics Switch

Wigan Athletic look set to complete the signing of Swansea City midfielder Leon Britton once the former West Ham player returns from holiday.

The 27 year old is out of contract at the end of June and would be free to join the Latics without the Premier League club needing to pay a fee for a player who has made over 300 appearances for the Swans.

Our friends over at Vital Swansea have reported that the board at the Liberty Stadium have refused to enter contract talks with Britton and that he will definitely be on his way up to the North West, see the article here

Latics boss Roberto Martinez made a £1 million bid for Britton in the January transfer window but this was turned down by Swansea, who at that time were still hopeful of the player agreeing a new deal with the Championship club

Not a player I'd have chosen for us to sign

He's been good for us, I hope Leon can turn the tide for the ex-Swansea faces up there, and show that at least one of them can perform in the Premier - it's sad to see that none (even RM) have not been as great as you'd hoped for. I hope this is the last Swansea player you take from us.

Martinez has been very good as far as I am concerned, Scotland as done ok apart from his failure in front of goal, Gomez though...
worbo
Considering all 3 of thier accolades at Swansea, I would say all have underperformed somewhat, but hey there is a whole new season ahead, who knows. On a side note, the timing for this announcement couldn't have been worse for us at the Liberty.

I thought you'd have made the play off's this season, dont frett though Blackpool will beat Cardiff and you should be challanging for automatic next season, none of the three relegated sides are up to much
worbo
If i would want to sign any Swansea players it would be Prattley, Williams and Brittan. RIP for that young Swansea striker.

Hope he won't be playing much... we have better options.

I wouldn't pay this mon 2s 6d/week no matter how free he was transfer wise. Scotland a pure waste of weekly wages, now this fella. Comon Whelan, show some positive ambition.
