Birmingham Pull Out Of N'Zogbia Chase

Birmingham City have pulled out of their attempts to prise Charles N`Zogbia away from Wigan Athletic after they had their latest bid knocked back says Birmingham vice-chairman Peter Pannu

Despite knowing that the Latics valued N`Zogbia at 15 million Birmingham offered just 8 million, a move that seemed more intent on unsettling this season`s player of the year down at the DW Stadium rather than starting serious negotiations with Dave Whelan.

Confirming Birmingham`s intent to withdraw Pannu said: "We have had an offer rejected for the player and our valuations are different"

"We don`t think it`s right to go any higher at this stage so therefore we withdraw."

The offer was rejected out of hand by the Latics

N`Zogbia is surely destined for a bigger club than what he`d find at St. Andrews and undoubtedly Alex McLeish will be in for a tough battle this coming campaign as his side will face second season syndrome with a struggle for Premier League survival on his hands.

Speaking about Birmingham`s offer Latics boss Roberto Martinez said the club is in a position where it doesn`t need to sell it`s top players and will only do so if it is right for Wigan Athletic. Martinez said: 'I'm just happy that Charles is enjoying his holidays and getting himself focused to coming back next season ready to carry on the good work he's done over the last 12 months.'

'We are not in a position where we have to sell and if and when we do it will be only in the club's best interests and after we have identified two or three potential replacements for that position.

'We want to grow as a club over the next few seasons, we have a clear strategy for the way ahead and we are determined to keep progressing.

'The sort of speculation we have seen this week is in my view just malicious and designed to unsettle a player who is very happy here.'

N`Zogbia`s agent Franck Peslerbe says that Charlie will only leave if everything is right for both the Latics and the player, he said: 'If it was a good solution for Wigan and a good project for Charles then something might happen

'Wigan have a figure they expect for Charles and we will see if anyone meets that.'

He was never going to go to birmingham in the first place, i think they will go down next season
wigan-latics
Er...think that's where you get your facts wrong he was all set to join Birmingham in January agreed to stay on with Wigan and was then going to move in the Summer. Birmingham are not out of the race at all this is just playing games. Grow up and learn to deal with interest from other clubs in your players. Wigan are not a big team and should not be in the Premier League end of story.
KRO!!!
Very funny
