Victory Over Arsenal, The Best of the Season

Victory Over Arsenal, The Best of the Season

Wigan Athletic 3-2 Arsenal has been voted the best Latics win of the season by visitors to Vital Wigan and by someway. With a whopping 70% of the vote the win over Arsenal quite categorically took the plaudits.

For those of you who have forgotten that glorious day in April it was one of those games that you have a gut feeling about, something good was going to happen, though to be honest at 2-0 down with just 10 minutes left on the clock even I was beginning to wonder.

Then up stepped Ben Watson to finish off a Victor Moses run with a powerful strike from just inside the box and there was a sense of 'we could get something here'. Pushing forward in the 89th minute and with time running out the Latics were awarded a corner, the ball was pumped into the middle Fabianski in the Arsenal goal flapped, Titus Bramble didn`t 2-2.

Now we had game on, the 4th official showed 4 minutes stoppage time, Arsene Wenger threw on Robin van Persie but Hugo Rodallega got the ball, he was out on the right of the Latics attack, he slipped it inside to Charles N`Zogbia who started to weave his way along the edge of the Arsenal 18 yard line.

Three defenders in front of Charlie didn`t put him off; he edged his way to the centre of the park cutting in from the right and unleashed a thunderous, magnificent curling shot that cannoned into the goal off the far post leaving Fabianski grasping at fresh air. 3-2 time up.

A dramatic win that gave the Latics the final points needed to guarantee Premier League survival and they got those points in style with a fantastic never say die performance.

For the record the voting was:

Arsenal - 70%
Aston Villa - 11%
Chelsea - 8%
Liverpool - 5%

The new poll is available on the right side of this page and it is asking who will win the World Cup? I`d love to say England but I don`t think we have enough quality through out the squad, it is difficult to look beyond Spain but I am doing just that and I see Brazil being crowned champions on Sunday July 11th

To vote simply access the poll on the right side of this page, select your option then hit the submit button, its that easy.
