Steve Gohouri Makes Ivory Coast 23

Wigan Athletic defender Steve Gohouri is included in Sven Goran Erikssons 23 man Ivory Coast squad after forcing his way into the reckoning late last season.

Gohouri joined the Latics back in January this year when he arrived from German club Borussia Mönchengladbach following some off the field indiscretions saw him effectively sacked from the Bundesliga side

The 29 year old defender quickly settled at the Latics and put in some good performances towards the end of the season especially the home games with Arsenal and Hull when he scored a dramatic injury time equaliser with a spectacular overhead kick, obviously catching the eye of Ivory Coast boss Eriksson.

Gohouri joins other Premier League players Emmanuel Eboue from Arsenal, Manchester City defender Kolo Toure and Chelsea strike pair Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou in the Ivorian squad.

The full Ivory Coast squad:

Goalkeepers: Boubacar Barry (Lokeren, Belgium), Aristides Zogbo (Maccabi Netanya, Israel), Daniel Yeboah (Asec, Ivory Coast).

Defenders: Souleymane Bamba (Hibernian, Scotland), Arthur Boka (VB Stuttgart, Germany), Benjamin Brou Angoua (Valenciennes, France), Guy Demel (Hamburg SV, Germany), Emmanuel Eboue (Arsenal, England), Steve Gohouri (Wigan Athletic, England), Siaka Tiene (Valenciennes, France), Kolo Toure (Manchester City, England).

Midfielders: Jean-Jacques Gosso Gosso(Monaco, France), Abdelkader Keita (Galatasaray, Turkey), Emmanuel Kone (International Curtea Arges, Romania), Gervinho (Lille, France), Koffi N'Dri Romaric (Sevilla, Spain), Cheik Ismael Tiote (Twente Enschede, Holland), Yaya Toure (Barcelona, Spain), Didier Zokora (Sevilla, Spain).

Forwards: Aruna Dindane (Lekhwiya, Qatar), Didier Drogba (Chelsea, England), Salomon Kalou (Chelsea, England), Bakary Kone (Olympique Marseille, France).
