Boselli Due To Fly in For Wigan Athletic Medical

Wigan Athletic are on the verge of smashing their transfer record to capture Argentina striker Mauro Boselli, who according to sources in South America is all set to arrive in Wigan on Wednesday to undergo a medical and put pen to paper on a deal that will see almost $10 million being paid for the highly sort after players services to both Estudiantes and Boca Juniors.

In a complicated deal with the two clubs actually owning 50% of the 25 year olds registration the Latics had to agree to meet the release clause in his contract, with the finances given the green light the word in Argentina is that Boselli will become a Latic before the end of this week and both Estudiantes and Boca have targets indentified with their share of the transfer fee.

Boselli is a free scoring striker who is good in the air and a host of clubs from all over Europe have been tracking him including Sunderland, Birmingham and Manchester United from the Premier League, the Latics though have apparently won the race for his signature.

"Wigan Athletic beat Manchester United to South American target" - forgive me if I find that one a little naive - if they'd really wanted him, they'd have got him.

I hope Boselli signs tomorrow, but I think it'll be the end of the week job.

will it be a risky try for buying a striker which is not proven in Europe at that price? 6M is quite much for our club....I prefer Roberto to buy Jackson Martinez from Mexico as he is cheaper and worth to try. btw is there anymore to spend after we signed Boselli???

Again, will believe it when I see it. I really hope it happens but we've been hurt by these rumours before.... Personally think he'd be a cracker.

This should mean that N'Zogbia's move to Birmingham will be a step closer. Where's this money suddenly come from? One out one in that's the way it works at Wigan.

I thought I explained why one attacker in one out. That's not just how the smaller clubs run but the alleged bigger clubs as well. When Utd brought in Valencia it was because they were selling Ronaldo. We were rumoured to have an interest in Boselli too suddenly it's gone quiet likewise the N'Zogbia rumours. Most likely is that the clubs are in negotiations. N'Zogbia has stated his desire to leave.

Haha Mark, where does it say he wanted to leave? no facts? he said he was happy at Wigan its a fact, why side step to a similar club? If its money motivated then good riddance imo.

Agree in part with Mark - if we dont sell one of Figs, Rodallega or Zog now, then we'll certainly lose 1 of them in Jan. But I still think 2 will probably go.

All gone quiet and Diameslovechild Mark is right, N'Zogbia said in January that if Wigan got a good offer for him he would like to leave in summer.

And Birmingham are 1600X bigger than us and by lookin at the table for last season they are 1600X better than us so tbh i dont blame him if he gets the opportunity to leave :/

Bolton, WBA, Birmingham,Wolves,Hull,Burnley....all yo-yo sides. Up and down like a brides nightie. Latics...never been relegated from the Premiership. If you want more than one season mixing it with the big boys then the DW stadium is the place to be. If only we had bigger crowds and be in a position to pay better wages I an sure we would see some of the bigger stars here. We live in hope.
