Honduras Sign Off With A Point

Honduras Sign Off With A Point

Wigan Athletic duo Maynor Figueroa and Hendry Thomas said goodbye to World Cup 2010 last night as Honduras signed off with a goalless draw against Switzerland in Bloemfontein, a result which sees them finish bottom of group H with just the single point and no goals scored.

In fairness to the Hondurans they lost their star striker Carlo Costly before the competition started due to a metatarsal injury, then Julio de Leon tore his hamstring before the first game, David Suazo was carrying a knock which made him miss the opener against Chile and play below par in the other two games, so there were some mitigating circumstances to their failure to perform.

Figgy though did have a good tournament as did ex-Latic Wilson Palacios who looked to be head and shoulders above the rest of the Honduras squad, just a pity that in last nights game any one of the numerous chances created couldn`t have been finished off to have given Los Catrachos their first ever World Cup finals win.

Never mind, there is always Brazil 2014
