New Wigan Athletic striker Mauro Boselli says he can`t wait to get started with pre-season training and meet his new team mates.
The Argentina international completed his move from Estudiantes and was officially declared a Latics player yesterday (Tuesday) when he was presented to the press and he says that he wishes he could get started immediately.
The 25 year old striker spoke to Latics official website and said that boss Roberto Martinez had been the major factor on him coming to the DW Stadium, he says Martinez sold him the club and said that he wanted him to come to Wigan and enjoy his football.
Boselli said: 'Everything Roberto (Martinez) said about the club and English football helped a great deal and made me realise that this was the right move for me.
'He wanted me here to play and enjoy my football in Wigan, which means a lot to me."
Boselli says that he is a follower of English football and already knew about the Latics and some of the players who will be his teammates; he also claims to have scored a goal similar to Figueroa`s effort at Stoke last season
He continued: "I'd heard of Wigan Athletic before, I've followed the Premier League for a long time and see it as the best in the world, and I'm very excited to get the opportunity to play in such a fantastic league.
'I've played against Hugo Rodallega back in 2005 when Argentina Under-20's took on Columbia Under-20's.
'He was a fantastic player then and has got even better since, and I can't wait to play in the same team as him here at Wigan Athletic.
'Of course I've seen a lot of action back in Argentina so know players such as Charles N'Zogbia, who is a very exciting player, and also Maynor Figueroa who has done very well playing in England.
'Back home we got to see his amazing goal last season against Stoke City, it was unbelievable.
'It actually reminded me of a goal I scored myself in my first game for Estudiantes against Rosario Central.'
So Mauro Boselli finally becomes a Latics player in a transfer that took almost as long as the Zaki affair a couple of years back. Looks like a player worth the wait
