James McArthur Ready To Join The Latics


Wigan Athletic are believed to be on the verge of announcing their latest new recruit after Hamilton Academicals midfield man James McArthur passed a medical today at the Latics and agreed terms on a three year deal after the two clubs reached agreement on the transfer fee believed to be 2 million.

McArthur follows his friend and former Accies team mate James McCarthy who made the switch south last year and the 22 year old will be officially unveiled by Monday with just the formalities to tie up.

The combative midfield man is a highly rated player and the Latics fought off competition for his signature from Premier League rivals Stoke and West Brom as well as Championship club Leeds United.

McArthur is an exciting addition to the squad that Latics boss Roberto Martinez is expertly putting together and though he is only 22, McArthur has made 168 appearances giving him quite a bit of experience for such a young player.
