Antonio Amaya Set For Spain Return

Wigan Athletic defender Antonio Amaya looks set to leave the club just one year after his arrival at the DW Stadium in the deal that also secured the services of Momo Diame from Spanish second division club Rayo Vallecano.

A report in Spain on the well respected Marca football site claims that Amaya has failed to settle at the Latics and with English life leaving the big defender ready to return to Spain with both Real Zaragoza and his previous club Vallecano keen to acquire his services.

The 27 year old failed to make any Premier League appearances and turned out just 3 times in cup competitions has he seemed to struggle adapting to the pace of the game in England.

With Titus Bramble, Gary Caldwell, Emerson Boyce, Steve Gohouri and new signing Antolin Alcaraz all ahead of Amaya in the pecking order for a centre back spot it is hardly surprising that he fancies returning home.
