New goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi says he is delighted to be joining Wigan Athletic from local rivals Bolton Wanderers after the Oman international completed a season long loan move yesterday and he is looking forward to meeting his new team mates to show them his stuff.
Al-Habsi says he understands that competition will be tough with Chris Kirkland and Mike Pollitt both quality keepers but he will be giving 100% for the club and cant wait to get started, speaking to the clubs official website the 28 year old said: 'It's a fantastic feeling to have joined and I would first of all like to thank Bolton Wanderers for the opportunity to allow me to join Wigan Athletic'
'I'm looking forward to meeting the lads and showing them and the fans my stuff. It's going to be an exciting season ahead and I can't wait to give 100% for the club.
'It's all come around really quickly to be honest. I was getting ready to go off to America with Bolton when a call came on Wednesday night that the deal had been done, and I couldn't be happier that the move has gone through.
'I've spoken with the Manager and was very happy with everything he said, I'm just looking forward to meeting him and the rest of the lads now, it's all going to be a fantastic experience for myself.'
'Well it's going to be tough especially with such quality and experienced goalkeepers as Chris Kirkland and Mike Pollitt.
'But I've come here from a club where I know what it's like to have strong competition for places and so I know that every day you have to be patient, stay concentrated, give 100% in training and show people how good you are.'
