Titus Bramble All Set For Sunderland

Titus Bramble All Set For Sunderland

Wigan Athletic are close to selling Titus Bramble to Sunderland with all the major media outlets, Sky Sports, the BBC, the Daily Telegraph and of course Vital Sunderland all stating that a fee has been agreed and the big fella is having a medical up in the North East.

Only yesterday I reported that I would be very surprised if we were to deal with Steve Bruce in the transfer market after the shenanigans that have gone on over the past 12 months, it looks like I will be forced to eat my words with the deal looking likely to be tied up later today.

It`s still one that I cant understand and the reported fee, £1million, for an established Premier League defender appears to be low in the extreme, it`s been reported that Bramble wants to go and work with Bruce again, this is just a few months after claiming that he would like to finish his career at the Latics when he signed a contract extension, strange.

Maybe there has been happenings behind the scenes at the DW Stadium and with the signing of Antolin Alcaraz and the emergence of Steve Gohouri, coupled with the presence of Gary Caldwell and Emerson Boyce in the squad perhaps Bramble couldn`t be guaranteed his pace in the starting eleven and this has unsettled him?

Whatever the reason I will be disappointed to see him go, for all his misgivings I thought Bramble was excellent for Wigan Athletic, he always played with his heart on his sleeve and gave 100% for the cause, Bramble spoke well to the media whenever he was interviewed and represented the club very well off the field as well as on it.

Whats being said on the message board

"This move smacks of the Cattermole sale last summer which screwed us up in midfield until January. Expect more sales to follow, if so it won't be just Sunderland fans cancelling season ticket direct debits"

The action(?) from yesterday's game at the DW Stadium between Wigan Athletic and Nottingham Forest which ended goalless:

Report - Latics 0 Forest 0 - What A Shocker

Thirteen games to save our Championship status, first up a home game against Nottingham Forest who are on a shocking run of form, conceded 10 goals in their last three matches, three of their first choice defenders missing through injury, they had lost 11 of their 16 away games this season with a -16 goal difference on the road and sat just six points above us in the table, surely a game that we would set out to win.

Checking the team selection I felt slightly optimistic but slightly conf
