'If It's Football, It's Vital'

James McCarthy Loving Austria

Wigan Athletic midfield man James McCarthy says that the training facilities at Bad Bleiberg in Austria are second to none and that the change of scenery from the rolling grassy banks of Christopher Park back in Wigan to the Mountains of the Gailtal Alps will do him good.

Speaking to the club official website the 19 year old says that although fitness is the priority he loves nothing better than winning football games and he is hoping that having gained one victory against NC Rudar that the Latics can win the second game of the Austrian tour.

Speaking to wiganlatics.co.uk McCarthy said: 'As always getting yourself fit and sharp is the main priority at this part of the season and although results aren't the point of these games, as a player you want to come away from matches having won the contest, so hopefully we can come away from Austria with two wins.

'It's a lovely place, fantastic training facilities and you couldn't ask for any more in all honesty.

'It's good to have a change of scenery and come away with all the boys before the start of the season and it'll go a long way towards getting us up to full-speed."
