Latics Were Right To Sell Bramble

Wigan Athletic supporters, well those who voted in our last poll, say that the club was right to sell Titus Bramble, following the big mans move to Premier League rivals Sunderland.

Bramble had been with the Latics since May 2007 when he joined on a free transfer and in his time at the DW Stadium he`d been a virtual ever present putting in 96 appearances and scoring 5 goals, add to this the fans Player of the Season 2008/09 and players Player of the Season 2009/10 and you could say that Bramble looked as though he was here to stay.

When the move came about it all happened very quickly, in less than a week from the first rumour to him being gone and there was a bit of a fans backlash to his departure but once the dust settled there has been a definite calming of the waters so to speak.

With just a year remaining on his current deal and the prospect of Bramble not playing too many games this season due to new signings and competition for the centre back berth it was understandable that boss Roberto Martinez would look to clear the high earning defender from the clubs wages.

With the fee being put out by Sunderland known to be way below what has actually been paid it looks like the Latics just might have cashed in at the right time, well thats what the majority think. (I`d have preferred him to stay)

Martinez has made some astute signings, Mauro Boselli, Antolin Alcaraz, James McArthur and Ronnie Stam all bringing in some extra quality to the squad and I am really looking forward to seeing the new acquisitions in action, but what do you think?

I still think we should have kept him but understand why we didnt, as for the new season, you bet I'm excited
