Liverpool Linked With Figueroa Move Again

Wigan Athletic defender Maynor Figueroa is in Roy Hodgson`s sights as the Liverpool boss prepares his Anfield squad for the big kick-off claim the Sunday Mirror.

Figueroa has been linked with a move to Liverpool for the past few weeks now with the rumour and gossip pages of national newspapers and sports websites claiming that Hodgson desperately wants the Honduras left back.

Figueroa`s agent claimed last month that 'there are just one or two things to sort out` before the 27 year old would be on his way up the East Lanc`s Road, Latics boss Roberto Martinez has always disputed this when questioned and says that he is staying at the club.

Speaking to Honduran newspaper Diez, Martinez gave Figueroa a glowing tribute saying that he believes that he is capable of becoming the best left back in the Premier League.

Martinez said: 'Maynor is among the best two left-backs in the Premier League,' enthused Martinez.

'With the number of games he has played for Manchester United, Patrice Evra is a similar player to Maynor in their physical characteristics.

'Maynor can become better than him as he has the ability to be the best left-back not only in the Premier League but in world football.

'I'm sure he will play for one of the great teams but I do not think it'll be in this transfer market.

'There's no doubt he can play for any of the giants of England, Spain or Italy.

'Maynor still has room for improvement with Wigan and to leave before that may be a wrong decision.

'He has power, quality and a professional attitude so he deserves only the best.

'It's not true Liverpool made an approach,'

'I always keep him informed of everything. I just want him to rest mentally and physically before the new season.'

So according to the Mirror Liverpool are set to bid for Figueroa but according to Martinez he isn`t going anywhere this summer

Video Highlights - Wigan Athletic 0 Nottingham Forest 0

The action(?) from yesterday's game at the DW Stadium between Wigan Athletic and Nottingham Forest which ended goalless:

Report - Latics 0 Forest 0 - What A Shocker

Thirteen games to save our Championship status, first up a home game against Nottingham Forest who are on a shocking run of form, conceded 10 goals in their last three matches, three of their first choice defenders missing through injury, they had lost 11 of their 16 away games this season with a -16 goal difference on the road and sat just six points above us in the table, surely a game that we would set out to win.

Checking the team selection I felt slightly optimistic but slightly conf
