Wigan Athletic - Best Value In The Land

Wigan Athletic - Best Value In The Land

How Cheap Are We?

The cheapest in the Premier League and the 6th cheapest in the entire country, that`s how cheap.

Following a report from the football magazine 4-4-2 to determine the cost of attending football at all the 92 grounds across the professional game in England, it was found that buying a season ticket at Wigan Athletic is the 6th cheapest in the country and number 1 in the Premier League.

The report focused on the cost of season tickets at all the clubs and found that the most expensive season ticket is a staggering £1,825 at the Emirates to watch Arsenal 19 times this coming season, that`s £96 per game

Another surprise was that Championship club Ipswich Town, who had a difficult season last time out and don`t look like breaking any pots this time in the 2nd tier come in 4th most expensive at £1,001, though they do play more matches than their Premier League counterparts with 23 games scheduled in the league for Portman Road

Back to the Latics and at £295 for the most expensive seat in the house taking in a full Premier League season value for money cant be an issue at the DW Stadium, with just five clubs who all coincidentally are in League 2, Accrington Stanley, Bradford City, Hereford United, Crewe Alexandra and Port Vale, beating Latics in the cost stakes it is something to be proud of.

Latics Chief Executive, Jonathan Jackson said: 'We are not surprised by the FourFourTwo report.

'We appreciate that finding money to watch football is a big commitment for our supporters to make and especially the loyalty of our fans who commit for a full season.

'This appreciation is reflected in our season ticket prices, and while we will also continue to try to grow the supporter base throughout the season with periodical offers, our loyal season ticket holders will always receive the best value.

'The fact that we are the 6th best value for money in the whole country demonstrates how important our supporters are to our club.'

It's United. Hereford United, not Town. Trust me, I grew up there... Well done Latics on the consistently low season ticket prices. Was there also a report on the cheapest ticket price at each club?

Being top of the league didn't last long, did it? We'll leave that talk until May from now on. We drew 1-1 with a well-drilled Gillingham side.

Paul Cook made one change to the side that beat Southend United 3-0 on Saturday. Ivan Toney returned to the starting line-up, replacing Will Grigg.

It was an open first 20 minutes, which saw both sides miss good opportunities. Gavin Massey, Nathan Byrne and Dan Burn all had chances to open the scoring, while Sean Clare came close with a vol
