Boselli is the Best Finisher Says Martinez

Boselli is the Best Finisher Says Martinez

Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez says he is really pleased with how quickly new signing Mauro Boselli has settled in at the Latics and that the Argentina international is already showing what a fantastic footballer he is.

On Wednesday in the preseason friendly against Real Zaragoza Boselli missed a couple of chances but that doesn`t worry Martinez in the slightest, the 25 year old picked up a knock early in the game following being dumped unceremoniously to the ground but he refused to come off and Martinez says that typifies his character, he also says that the striker is one of the best finishers he has ever seen.

Speaking to the Wigan Evening Post Martinez was also full of praise about Boselli`s intelligence and movement and the Latics boss reckons that his big summer signing is in for a great season.

Martinez said: "Mauro got a knock in the early stages against Zaragoza, but he didn`t want to come off.

"That`s the type of character he is, and for him to play 90 minutes was a real plus for us.

"I have been really pleased with his footballing intelligence - the way he moves, the way he makes his runs - and he`ll get into a lot of good positions this season.

"It doesn`t worry me at all that he missed a couple of chances on Wednesday, because he is the best finisher I have seen for a long, long time. I am so excited about the future because I really feel we have got a future Argentinean regular on our hands."

"I just want Mauro to keep doing the things we know he can do. He is very generous off the ball, and his intelligence is second to none. I have absolutely no concerns whatsoever about Mauro scoring goals over here."

Do I not remeber Roberto saying the same thing about both Scotland and Rodallega? Have to say though, Boselli did look decent early on with some nice touches. Missed three chances which I am sure he would have taken with a bit more sharpness which will come as he gets fitter. I think he will be a better striker than Hugo.

Video Highlights - Wigan Athletic 0 Nottingham Forest 0

The action(?) from yesterday's game at the DW Stadium between Wigan Athletic and Nottingham Forest which ended goalless:

Report - Latics 0 Forest 0 - What A Shocker

Thirteen games to save our Championship status, first up a home game against Nottingham Forest who are on a shocking run of form, conceded 10 goals in their last three matches, three of their first choice defenders missing through injury, they had lost 11 of their 16 away games this season with a -16 goal difference on the road and sat just six points above us in the table, surely a game that we would set out to win.

Checking the team selection I felt slightly optimistic but slightly conf
