Martinez Wants More Additions To The Squad

Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez isn`t totally satisfied with the overall strength of his squad even though there are just 5 days to the start of the new season, he is looking not only to bring players in but also to continue shipping others out.

Speaking to the clubs official website Martinez said that the Latics are a little light up front and that he wants to bring in two more strikers to help the club through until the next transfer window in January, Martinez also said that players will be moving out, already this past week has seen Olivier Kapo and Jason Koumas leaving and it appears there will be more to follow.

Martinez said: 'I still feel we need to strengthen the squad a little, but the players are really starting to show their qualities.

'It's fair to say that everyone is doing their job at the moment.

'Obviously everyone wants to start that game, but it is a long season and everyone will have a role to play.

'Until the last day of August we will be working hard to strengthen the squad and help the squad we have here.

'That means players will have to move out as well as players will come in.

'We have moved one or two on this week and there are one or two other things we will need to finalise before August 31.'

"I do feel we need one or two more players in forward positions"

"We are a possibly little bit lightweight - not in terms of starting the season but to carry us through until the next window in January.

"We are probably two bodies light in that position."
