Latics Linked With Sporting Gijon Defender

Latics Linked With Sporting Gijon Defender

Wigan Athletic have been offered the opportunity to sign £15 million rated defender Jose Rangel from La Liga side Sporting Gijon for a cut price £3 million with the Spanish club attempting to halt a slide into financial troubles.

The 20 year old left back is a real prospect and one of Gijon`s more saleable assets and there has been interest in the youth international from Udinese and Sporting Lisbon but Rangel favours a move to the Premier League and thats where the Latics come in.

Representatives of Sporting Gijon have contacted the Latics and Premier League rivals Liverpool, Everton and Spurs to see if a deal can be done.

Former Latics target Roberto Canella is also believed to have been made available with Blackburn Rovers showing interest in the highly rated defender
