What The Papers Say - Latics 0-4 Blackpool


Wigan Athletic were smashed yesterday in the seasons opener against newly promoted Blackpool, I was left gobsmacked, not by the fact that we had lost the opening game, nor the fact that we lost to a newly promoted side but the manner in which we succumbed to the defeat.

The Latics were flat, still in preseason mode, not looking fit, sharp or ready for the big occasion, they appeared to assume they could just turn up for the points, go through the motions and get the victory, well it doesn`t work like that and they were put in their place by a well organised and well motivated side who set about the game in a businesslike manner and they certainly did the business and took the points back up the M6.

That`s what I think, but what does the national press make of the game, lets find out:
